Practice Makes Perfect

I was playing around with composition, aperture, ISO, lighting, etc. Here are the results, all taken in or around the house. They are all in black & white because I was hoping that some would turn out well enough for me to frame as wall decor-I'm in need of some art and I have sticker shock when I prices things in the store. I think I got some keepers and that will do nicely in a fram for now. As you can see, in a couple of pictures, that it was raining. I labeled my favorites, though I think it's a toss up between #1 and #2.

Fav. #1

It's unfortunate that it takes some of us so long to figure out what we want to be when we grow up, what passion makes us happy. Photography, taking pictures and creating something out of nothing, does just that for me. The world is my canvas and when I get behind the camera, everything else seems to disappear. I am in my own world, just me and my camera, trying to capture that perfect image.
Something discouraged me from taking pictures about a month ago and I let it stop me from progressing. It was pretty inane truthfully, but real to me. An inadequacy that I thought I could never dodge or escape, or overcome. To be honest, I have been miserable the last month, taking perhaps only a handful of pictures. For some reason, today I felt a sudden urge to pick up my camera again and just take pictures of whatever I saw. Since it was raining, I was confined to my home but I didn't let it stop me. The end result: abt 120 pictures taken, 6 of which I was proud of, my camera in my hand, and one happy little lady. :) Jon even noticed that I was in better spirits today.

I love the shots. Don't get discouraged! I have found for myself at least, that the more I'm behind my camera, the more I think about it while doing everyday things and different angles to shoot. I haven't been behind my camera nearly enough in a LONG time, so I'm out of practice. Like with any hobby, interest or desire, Practice makes perfect. I love that you just shot around your home looking for different ways to look at an object. BEAUTIFUL! You should go downtown or to a main street. Try that out for inspiration, especially someplace you don't go often.

Those re all really great! I really like the pouring rain one that you didn't mark as a favorite. Favorites #2 and #3 are also excellent. They are going to look great on your wall!
Tyler and Allison decided to stay at Grandma and Pawpaw's last night, so when they get back we'll do Allison's pictures, okay? I'll let you know.
