So we've been in our home for 4 years now and we have done NOTHING to it, excluding the kids' rooms when I found out what they were when I was pregnant with them. I was inspired when I went to one of those hosted parties like pampered chef, avon, stampin' up, etc. Well, this one was for vinyl lettering called
Uppercase Living and the possibilities were endless. Awesome stuff to decorate the home and so it inspired me to get mine ready to add this wonderful decor to it! This was Friday night, and Saturday morning I woke up, turned to Jon and said, "let's go to lowe's and pick out some paint." It totally caught him off guard because I'm not this spontaneous and eager to get the day started. After discussing where we would start first, we ended up choosing the kitchen, so off we went. Took forEVER to figure out what color we like but finally decided on "cranberry bog". We painted literally all day from about 1pm-3am because we had to prime it first and those high ceilings look pretty but a bear to paint! As we started to get the color on the wall, we weren't so confident in our choice but decided to stick to it and see it through to the end. It was such a dramatic change for us, after seeing dull beige on our walls in our entire house for 4 years. It started to grow on us and now we LOVE it! We were totally kaput by the end of it and because of the color we chose, it was a HUGE mess. It seemed like it was everywhere. We also bought an automatic paint roller which is GREAT and made things go faster until it was time to clean the darn thing. Yikes...that was an involved process, but I think worth it. Jon might feel differently, he was the one who cleaned it. =) Anyway, here are some before and after pictures of the paint job, now I just have to decorate it. Yard sales, here I come!
Before

Left: You can see the color our ENTIRE house has been for 4 years...dull, huh? Middle: Primed and ready to go...still dull. Right: The winner of choice in color, "cranberry bog". Looks funny with the one wall cut in and outlined.
After: Ta Da

I still want to change the couter top, back splash, the cabinet pulls and handles, and the sink. I'm still trying to figure out to this day why a WHITE sink and WHITE cabinet hardware was put in a black kitchen?! Our home was a presell with upgrades, although you couldn't convince me on this when it came to particular things through out the house such as the carpet. Ugly, thin, rough, berber junk!

Very nice! Sounds like a ton of fun. It's great to redecorate!
oh my wow! Nice paint job and color selection, I love color!
You guys have steady hands! Even using tape (if you did) it's hard to keep the lines that straight. I love the color! My "project" is the baby room. I just need to make curtains and hang up some pictures. It's driving me crazy that I don't have time to decorate. My excuse is the fact that I dont know what I'm having:)
