Happy Birthday To...

Kayden Jeremiah Punahele

You are such a big boy now,

We LOVE you!

----------------------------------------------------

(In O.R. with Dr. Pitcher)
We never thought we would have a little boy of our own, but Kayden entered this world on February 16th and changed our lives forever. He was born by cesarian section after weeks of bed rest and low amniotic fluid. Not knowing if our little boy would have strggles once delivered, our 4 week early bundle was healthy and weighed in at 6lbs. 6 oz. I can remember Dr. Pitcher (above) say, "Vanessa, he's a good size, he looks good." I was relieved and thankful! Before going into surgery, Dr. Pitcher informed me that a NICU team would be present in the delivery room just in case. However, we were overjoyed when we learned he was fine and their services were not needed.

(2 Weeks, First day of church)
Life at home resumed with our new addition. Kayden was so much fun to be around, and who could resist such an adorable baby? He was cuddly, quiet, laid back and a good eater, what more could we ask for?

Time flew by and it seemed so sudden that our little guy turned 6 months old! Still calm and easy going as his Hawaiian name suggests, Kayden, with his cute smile, was adored by so many. Days passed as we watched him achieve milestones, grow more curious about the world around him and then before we knew it...

our baby turned 1 year old! His birthday was celebrated in Utah with Jon's family in our traditional Luau style. We continued to watch Kayden grow from a baby into a little boy. His interests changed from rattles, mobiles and crawling to cars, dinosaurs and running! Maintaining his ever so easy going personality, Kayden did, however, become more aware of himself and individuality as he began making his own decisions and he learned to express himself.

Today his life began two years ago as he became a part of our family. I reflect on those two short years and am amazed with the miracle of life. I rejoice that our Father in Heaven has watched over him and has kept him safe, granting us each day we spend with our wonderful son. We are thankful to Him and pray for many more birthdays to come.

Happy 2nd Birthday Kayden! We are so proud of you and wish nothing but the best for you as you continue to grow and mature. You're a blessing and our heart.

WE LOVE YOU!

Happy, Happy Birthday Kayden!!! It seems like only yesterday that you were that little bundle of joy who fit so snuggly in the adorable tiny outfit which we now can hardly believe fit you. (Mommy knows which one I'm talking about). Look at our little peanut now!!! You are just simply adorable and irresistable. We love you so much! You have brought all of us so much love and joy in the two short years you have been in our lives. That bashful little grin (with the turn of your head), that sweet smile, those big beautiful brown eyes, those little bear hugs you give when you come running with your arms open wide, that "big boy" playfulness, you're just a picture of health--what else could we ask for. It has been so much fun to watch you grow and learn. I always enjoy our visits and all the fun times we get to have with you and your family. I look forward to the many years that we will continue to watch you grow into that handsome young man that I just know you are going to be!! I love those pictures that mommy posted just before and on your birthday blog. (Outside pictures) I am looking forward to your birthday party too! Have fun on your special day and the coming year. God bless you little one with health and safety as you continue to bring many blessings to all of our lives!! We LOVE you, APPRECIATE you, and CHERISH you forever. With our love, PaPa and Nanny Hamby

Wow, time is flying by...loved this post, made me think about how precious my own are to me (which has been harder to think about this week with them out of school all week).
I love that he walks around saying "Kchow", how funny. I remember when my kids could buck themselves in the car, what a milestone. My kids reminded me when I tried to help that they could do it themselves. Happy Birthday to Kayden!
