Flying Alone With Two Youngins

Well, the kids and I all made it in one piece! We had a connecting flight in Minneapolis, and I don't recommend having a connection flying alone with more than one child! You're asking for trouble even though it's doable. It's funny how we can be so judgmental of others until we have walked a mile in their shoes and this was one of those experience where I personally witnessed more than 3 people judging me as a mother flying with two little ones to my face. Who knows how many talked behind my back. I did my best, traveled as light as possible but there are necessities that you have to lug around when spending over 6 hours in airports and airplanes with a three and one year old. However, on the flip side there were those who were very considerate and understanding and who were willing to help me in any way they could! It is people like those who help make the almost unbearable situations possible to get through.

The way we flew was planned out early on as I tried to think of all alternatives and this is what I came up with. I had Keilana on one of those child leashes so that I could keep her close to me without having the constant fear and stress of her running off and getting lost OR having someone take her. I knew I could handle the scorns from other people who thought having my child on a leash was in inhumane but I'd never forgive myself if something happened to my little girl knowing it could have been prevented. As far as Kayden, he was strapped on to me using the Maya Wrap, a life saver to save the least! Of course after carrying heavy bags around and a 23 lb. toddler for a good portion of the day, I was pretty sore the next morning. Sure I could have used a stroller but that was just one more thing that I had to deal with and tote around. Both kids did well though. It was the last leg of the flight and the last 30 minutes that Kayden started to get antsy, wanting down and off the airplane. Luckily, before leaving that morning, my mom loaded the kids up with a TON of goodies. That really helped out while they were forced to sit during take-off and landing. I did receive many compliments from passengers that my kids are well-behaved and were great flyers. And they are good kids. I know I tend to take it for granted and it helps when others remind me of that.

I wasn't able to take any pictures because my memory card was full. Who starts off on a trip with a full memory card?! Seriously. Even it was empty, the day was so chaotic, that I probably wouldn't have even attempted to take a picture. I will have to post about the wedding another day and add pictures later on. I just ran out of time, moving on to the next activity. I will say though, I spent MOST of today vegging and doing nothing except helping clean up from the wedding and catching up on sleep. The kids have had their sleep interrupted so many times that we took a 4 hour nap today!! Tomorrow we will be spending the day in Provo to visit family and to be a part of the blessing of little Josiah. Love to my family, I miss you guys! And Wendy, keep blogging so I know what y'all are up to as well! Keilana sends her love to Tyler, she was "playing" with him today. Hehe.

Man, that just makes me so eager for Decemeber to get here so that I can fly alone with 2 kids! Fun, fun! Smart idea about the leash...I wonder if Tyler would be totally opposed to the idea. We shall see. I'll do my best do blog at the cabin at least once...dial up just kills me though! How spoiled we have become! I am eager to hear how the wedding went and see pictures. Love ya!

Congrats on making the trip. It is so hard flying with kids alone and people who have never done it have no idea. I am sure your kids were great! Have a fun trip!!!
