Party Hearty

This must be the curse that comes with loving photography and owning a digital camera--taking a lot pictures and feeling the need to post them all. It's pretty ridiculous actually. So, here is Kayden's birthday party with the rest of the family.

BIRTHDAY DINNER

Since Keilana's dinner went over so well with everyone, I decided to do another roast and change the side dishes: Pot Roast, Cheesy Beans & as far as Kayden is concerned what would be a meal without mashed potatoes.

Those were OBVIOUSLY the first to go.

Allison didn't seem to mind that they were on her plate either.

Kayden and Tyler watching Disney Cars after dinner. The girls were running around, NOT interested in the movie.

As they kids are growing so quickly, there is always the need to update a Nanny and Grandbabies picture. It's so much fun trying to round up these little ones to try and get at least ONE good picture out of several. This is what we ended up with.

SINGING & CAKE

Our "cake lady" made this special Disney Cars themed birthday cake. It's special because it was our first attempt to create a low-in-sugar treat. It's made with whole wheat flour and agave sugar with cream cheese frosting. It wasn't bad at all, different, but something we could all get used to. The kids didn't seem to mind it all too much.

His birthday stash.

Enjoying his delicious birthday cake, specially made by Auntie Wendy.

Shove it on down--the quicker I eat the more I can eat.

PRESENTS!!

And we're off! A 4-in-1 deal! Four presents were hiding in his wrapped up Lightning McQueen mirror. What could it be?!

Aah, over sized Cars characters that he horded first thing and was reluctant to continue with anymore gifts. I guess these gifts far exceeded his expectations and he was content.

We convinced him to keep going but before doing so he had to line up the cars in front of him so that he could keep a close eye on them! Papa might just swipe them right out from underneath him. That would cause quite a stir.

I reassured him I would help keep them safe so off he went to the next present, quickly grabbing at the tissue paper.

This was the BIG gift from us that I have been waiting to give to him for quite a while now. He had a little difficulty getting it out of the bag. SURPRISE!

Yup, it's the talking, dancing Lightning McQueen. It was the cutest thing, he was so thrilled that this was what was inside. Tyler got one for Christmas and he became quite attached and fond of it. Luckily, Auntie found it on sale at Target and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to catch this face on camera. Once again, his expectations were surpassed and we had to convince him there were more COOL toys to open.

Ooh! A dinosaur from the Hadley family!

Not just any dinosaur, a remote control dinosaur! Once he saw what it did he wasn't so sure about it but he warmed up to it a little that night. By the next morning, after he and Keilana had played with it a while, he thought it was pretty cool.

Another dinosaur to add to his growing collection! He also got a Disney Cars movie projector book from Auntie, Uncle, Allison and Tyler but for some reason, I didn't get a picture of it.

I think this moment seemed surreal for Kayden, that he actually had one of his very own moving and talking Lightning McQueen. He couldn't stop smiling. He was so flippin' cute and completed my night! The joys and thrills we get from seeing our kids' faces light up.

NIGHT NIGHT

All good things must come to an end. This little guy was completely wiped out after all the excitement he could have for one day. Happy Birthday sweet boy!

Cute boy! I love that he was so excited about the Moving Lightning McQueen. He was pretty dang cute the way he was in awe over having his very own and kept smiling! And I'm also very glad he loved his cake so much! Fun times!
