Doesn't she just look like a little first grader? She's changed so much in the last 6 months when we did her 6 year old pictures. It's exciting but scarey at the same time.
I also have to brag on her for just a brief moment. She's very in tune with me, and my emotions (I guess due to my moodiness which I totally dispise but am working on with dedication). She took care of her baby brother almost all day. She took him potty, fed him the soft peices of popcorn that she carefully bit around so he wouldn't choke while watching a Baby Einstein video with him. At one point, I heard him fussing and I naturally I inquire what was happening.
Let's back up one second to the day before yesterday when I showed her what to do in case Karter was choking and I wasn't around. I proceeded to demonstrate the heimlich by placing him over my knees while I sat, facing him downward and hitting his back. I told her never to do it while he sat up because it would make the food go down the wrong way, that we wanted it to come out, not down.
Fast forward to hearing Karter fuss. She told me that he was choking so she quickly grabbed him out of his swing and took him over to the couch to hit his back. Is she NOT A-mazing?! I can't believe this little girl sometimes.
Once the video was over, and the popcorn all gone, she didn't just leave him in his swing to cry, she took him out and up to her room to watch a big kid movie with her and Kayden. She cautiously planned a safe spot for him. It was quite comical, but thoughtful. He was sitting on a 2-stair step stool with Kayden's race track to the side of him, and a box fan behind him. I asked what would happen if he fell and they explained that the fan and race track were there to protect him from falling. ha! I asked why she didn't put him on the bed and she said because he would fall off. Oh, the irony. The kid had some good stability and blanace sitting up on the step stool, just hanging out and blowing raspberries.
Love my kiddos but I still need to ease up on them. Tomorrow is a new day and I promise to be a better Mommy.
