New Camera!

For those of you who TRULY know me, I'm a sucker for photos and my dream has been to own a Nikon D60 for a couple of years now. In all honesty, I would really love to have the D90 but as far as budget goes, the D60 is in and I can upgrade in a couple of years. It seems like a trend for me, that I change cameras every 2 years. I just find it impossible to hang on to something where technology is advancing every day. I suppose you could compare it to a computer for some, but for me, it's a camera because pictures capture moments that pass by ever so quickly and I can't sacrifice quality when I KNOW that better is out there. I am so fortunate to have a good friend who has sort of taken me under her wing and is slowly helping me develop the talent that is already there, at least in my opinion. This good friend is also the person who took our family photos that I posted back in October and was Keilana's preschool teacher. So, I know I am in good hands that I can trust. I have done some editing on the following photos and that is one of the things on my list, new editing software. My first item on my wish list for my camera, however, is a new, external flash that will give me even better quality photos!

This was my first opportunity to take pictures outside. I sure didn't pick a good day to do it. The sun was starting to set, about 30 minutes before sunset and it was like 25 degrees outside. The kids and I got home and as I was cleaning out the car, they snuck outside and started playing around. Grant it they should have had bigger coats on considering the temperature outside, but kids are reiliant and they did have layers on. I quickly grabbed my camera and started clicking away. I don't like how the flash gives highlights to pictures so I just mostly played around with the aperture and let in as much daylight in that was left. Out of about 25 pictures, these are the 5 that came out the best.

This is my favorite! Jon just had got home from work and they both ran up to him. It was VERY cold outside and they all snuggled up for a little warmth.

Thanks, Babe, for my new camera!

The first one is my favorite too. So precious! It truly looks like it came out of a catalog or something. Great job!

Looks like our own family photographer is advancing ever so surely--love your camera!!! They all turned out really good! Maybe, just maybe, you will get "professional" enough to turn out some "acceptable" pictures of yours truly--the poor unphotogenic soul in the family :( (I speak for myself and we all know by now who that would be) :) (At least that's my opionion). The first one of your pictures is my favorite one too! It's one of those "Precious Moments". Really cute of BOBO. Hang in there girl--you're progressing quite nicely. I'm proud of your perseverance. There's nothing like beautiful pictures to leave for your posterity--love the really candid ones. LOVE YA!! Mama

Hey Vanessa--I went back and was looking at those pictures again. I love how pictures seem to speak to your soul and can say so much. Since you said Jon had just got home from work, to me, it looks as though Jon is saying a silent prayer thanking Heavenly Father for the safety of the day for your family, and how wonderful it feels to be joined again with his beautiful family!! Love you Jon! Nanny, Mama, Marilyn
