Christmas & New Year's Day
So it's about that time for another blog entry. I can't tell you the number of times I have attempted to get on here to update but each time I sit at the computer SOMETHING happens and I get interrupted. Aaahhh, sweet life of a Mama.
So the holidays are finally over with the exception of birthdays and I'm waiting for spring! I LOVE spring, "it's not too cold and it's not too hot. All you need is a light jacket." Besides, I get depressed from being in the house all winter long. However, yesterday was such a beautiful day, 71 degrees in fact. The kids and I stay outside for most of the late afternoon playing and we also went on a walk. Keilana had a bucket and was finding "treasure" along the way which comprised of sticks, rocks, and one crayon. Kayden was due for a nap so he fell asleep in the stroller. It's suppose to be nice this week up until the weekend when another cold spell comes through. Hopefully, it doens't hang out too long.
So Keilana will be turning 3 in 4 days! I can't believe it, I can't believe I have a 3 year old. I've been a little slack in planning her party, but a 3 year old doesn't require too much. It's not until they are about 5 & 6 that they start noticing and wanting things a certain way, at least in my opinion. I actually don't have to be too quick to plan it because there are 2 other birthdays this month that we'll be attending: Tyler's being one and the other is her friend from nursery, whose is this weekend, on her birthday in fact. I thought this Saturday would be perfect to have her party since her birthday actually fell on that day but this other little girl's mother beat me to it. Oh well, probably either next weekend, or the last weekend of the January. We'll still do a little family celebration of her BIG 3 with the traditional pizza and ice cream cake...yummy!
Kayden will be turning 1 in a little over a month! Time is flying and I can't keep up. We'll be celebrating his birthday in Utah for his one year big Luau bash. We've already purchased our tickets courtesy of all those skymiles Jon racked up traveling. Yes, in 7 months he had enough skymiles to buy 3 plane tickets! That's a ton of traveling, no? In fact, Jon is currently in Belgium but will be home this week in time for his little girls birthday.
Briefly updating our Christmas and New Year's celebration. It started off a little rough when we found out 3 days before flying out to Utah that Mr. Kayden had double dose of ear infection! After his third dose of antibiotics he started to break out, I thought he was allergic but turned out to be a reaction to the meds, not allergic like we thought. He did great on the plane ride out there though, slept most of it in fact, and was feeling MUCH better by Christmas! We had such a great time seeing the family again and spending time with them as well during the Christmas holiday. Keilana had a blast in the snow, playing with her cousins, opening all of her gifts, and recieving her new Christmas PJ's from Santa. Great idea Holly, but I think credit goes to Maddy. I'll be doing that traidition from now on! Kayden also enjoyed being outside in the snow, trying out his first taste of spam musabi (sp?) and after a few presents caught on to the idea of ripping the paper off. I thought he would have more fun with opening gifts since he LOVES to rip paper any other time. Oh well. On Christmas Eve we had our crab leg feast at Holly and Damon's and enjoyed the white elephant exchange. The most popular gift was the "Poo" Book that was very descriptive indeed. It went from person to person as each read about the various types of poo. I recieved the gift I bought (I loved it too much!) which was a pink, plastic, school lunch type tray with a pink glass to match. Jon got a loofa, travel toothbrush & toothpaste.
New Year's was celebrated back here at home in Georgia with my family, BUT, we still did our own crab leg dinner here. It wasn't on New Year's Eve but we combined it with the Southern tradition of black eyed peas and cornbread along with collard greens. That is a very OLD southern tradition that is said for however much black eyed peas you eat, that's how much change you'll get that year. And the amount of collard greens you eat, you'll recieve that amount in cash! They aren't THAT great to me, and I eat just enough so I'm not broke all year long. Maybe that's why I'm always poor. Better stock up on them next year. And we also had our family Christmas here and exchanged more gifts. Of course Keilana and Tyler scored this year. It'll be interesting to see the amount of gifts they get next year! Kayden and Allison are still a little young so I'm sure they'll rack up next year as well!
